Our commitment
HappiSpace is committed to providing a website, venue and corporate experience that is accessible to everyone — including people with disabilities, neurodivergent participants, older adults, and those using assistive technology.
Web accessibility standard
This site aims to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, conformance level AA — the standard expected by the South African Government, parastatal procurement, and major JSE-listed corporates in 2026.
What we do
- Solid colour contrast above 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text (WCAG 1.4.3).
- Visible 3px focus ring on every interactive element (WCAG 2.4.7 and 2.4.11 Focus Appearance).
- Keyboard-navigable nav, forms, modal dialogs and lightbox.
- Semantic HTML5 landmarks, headings in logical order, descriptive link text.
- Alt text on all content images.
- Form labels paired explicitly with inputs; inline error messages on invalid input.
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motion— decorative animations are disabled for users who request it at OS level. - Mobile-first layout; tap targets at least 44×44 px (WCAG 2.5.5).
- Captions on video where audio carries meaning.
- Plain English language consistent with the South African writing register.
Venue accessibility (HappiSpace Sandton)
- Step-free access to the main rooms.
- Accessible bathroom on the ground level.
- Reserved parking near the entrance available on request.
- Quiet "reset" space available for neurodivergent participants or anyone who needs a break.
- Catering accommodates allergens, halal, kosher, vegan and sober-living preferences when notified in advance.
If you need a venue accessibility audit document or have specific access requirements, email shareen@laughtercoaching.com and Shareen will reply with the details and any adjustments.
Session accessibility
- No physical contact required.
- No personal disclosure required.
- Participants may opt out of any specific exercise without explanation.
- Seated alternatives offered for standing exercises.
- Sign-language interpreter integration on request (advance notice).
- Large-print or braille handouts on request.

Known limitations
We continue to test and improve. Current known items being addressed:
- Embedded YouTube videos use third-party player controls; we are evaluating accessible video alternatives.
- The animated burnout counter in the hero strip is informational and decorative; users on
prefers-reduced-motionsee a static figure. - Custom interactive widgets (burnout calculator, 3-step form) are tested in keyboard and screen-reader flows; please report any issues.
Feedback and accessibility requests
If you encounter any barrier on this site, in our venue, or in a HappiSpace session, please let us know. We action access-related feedback within 5 working days.
