From burnout to board rooms
Shareen Richter didn't discover laughter coaching by accident. She discovered it the hard way โ through her own burnout, her own nervous system in revolt, and the startling realisation that the thing that saved her was something people had been told not to take seriously: joy.
Armed with an Industrial Psychology Honours degree and two additional business qualifications, she set out to build what no-one else had: a scientifically rigorous, professionally facilitated approach to workplace wellbeing that could speak the language of HR directors and CFOs.
"Laughter is not an add-on. It is a measurable intervention. And the cortisol numbers agree."
The result? A 15-year body of work spanning 500+ companies, a TEDx talk, two Amazon international bestsellers, a Sandton venue purpose-built for nervous-system recovery, and a title โ Laughter Professor โ given to her personally by Dr Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga, in recognition of her mastery of the field.
Today HappiSpace is Shareen's flagship: the venue, the corporate experiences, the Felt Shift Method, and an AI-powered production studio that's turning her work into one of Africa's most distinctive wellness media brands.
